NANGANALLUR RAVISHANKAR'S GREAT CONCERT AT RANJANI ON 18TH DECEMBER 08

MR NANGANALLUR RAVISHANKAR’S Great concert at RANJANI

Nanganallur Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samajam is celebrating its Arunageetham Music Festival from 11th Dec 08 at Ranjani Hall Nanganallur. On 18th Dec 08 Mr Ravishankar sang with the accompaniments Karaikal Venkatasubramanian on the Violin,Mannarkoil J.Balaji on the Mrudangam and D.V.Venkatasubramanian on the Ghatam .Ravishankar commenced the concert with Sami Daya Juda, varnam in the raga Kedara gowla.The ease with which he sang was appreciable as it initiated a tempo to the concert to make the audience in large numbers feel what would be next. As expected came a lovely piece ‘Gaja Vadana in the raga SriRanjani.,which was enjoyable and made the Rasikas to sit comfortably to settle down with eagerness. ’Isane Indha’ was the next one in Chakravaham, which was entertaining and melodious .Ravishankar then sang a krithi in the raga Riti Gowla with great confidence proving he is a good a singer having control and stability in the rendition having no Swarabedam what so ever and has a good knowledge in the art and experience of singing. ‘Thaye Thirupura Sundari’ in the raga Suddasaveri and 'Madangi' in Rama Manohari were excellent presentations of the artist where he excelled and elaborated as his mastery over learning classical carnatic music and developing the art to his taste and plan to execution.was evident. ‘Saranam Iyyappa’ ‘which came next was in the raga Muhari was explicitly entertaining and melodious but made all to feel why he has done the alapana for the raga to show his high quality singing.A quick Kapi Narayani krithi ‘Sarasa samadana’ was sung to Rasika’s great satisfaction towards his swiftness. The main raga was Thodi where he was elaborate and was comfortable and confident .Neraval had many flights and the alapana was with ease and imaginative ideas in the lower and also upper Sthayee and he brought out all aspects of great classical carnatic music with a sweet nice voice a god gift to a prodigy,like...The Kriti’ Koluva Maragadha’of Thyagaraja in Thodi was sung excellently and presentation was applauded in Swara Sachara and also when showing other exemplary talents of rendition.He lastly sang the two lovely songs ‘Thunga Theeravi’ in Yaman Kalyani and ‘Parvai Onre’ in Churuti proving his ability to differently give shape to rendition to attaract the rasikas.He has given many concerts but this one seemed to be one of the best. Karaikal Venkatasubramanian was ably giving support on the Violin and it added to the beauty of the concert .Mannarkoil Balaji on the Mrudangam and D,V.Venkatasubramanian on the Ghatam were good supports and confidently and conveniently accompanied the young artist with zeal and enthusiasm to make the whole concert a valuble one.Their Thani was quite differently elaborate enjoyable entertaining and lovable All accompanying artists are seniors and encouraged the little master through their expertise. He started learning the music at the age of three and grew along with NSTSS.He is the grandson of Mr V.Ramanathan a senior Muscian & General Secretary of the Samajam.He has many talents and would play Key Board, Mrudangam Ghatam and has won many prizes in competitions and has sung in T.V Channels and earlier in ‘Isai Mazhzlai’ He has good observation’ says his grand father and he learns himself and tutelage may not be necessary .He has a great future and definitely he would bring laurels to himself but also a great name to Nanganallur the temple city.All wish the young up coming artist Mr Ravi Shankar all the best and many awards and titles are ahead of him in the years to come The Great Ravishankar was Sitar Maestro and this young Ravi Shankar may become a great vocalist.
